Campus SummaryTOP

Founded in 1841, Fordham, New York City's Jesuit University, offers a distinctive educational experience rooted in the 450-year old Jesuit tradition of intellectual rigor and personal respect for the individual. Fordham has four undergraduate colleges and six graduate schools. In addition to its full-time undergraduate programs, the University offers part-time undergraduate study at Fordham College of Liberal Studies and during two summer sessions. Fordham College at Rose Hill and the College of Business Administration, located on the Rose Hill campus, are adjacent to the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo. The Rose Hill campus is a self-contained 85-acre campus with residential facilities for 2,428 students and ample parking for commuters. It is easily accessible by public and private transportation. Fordham also provides an intercampus van service to transport students to and from Manhattan. Fordham College at Lincoln Center is located in Manhattan, overlooking the famous Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts complex. The Lincoln Center campus has an 850-bed apartment style residence, McMahon Hall, and is accessible via the West Side Highway or major subway lines. The outstanding libraries on Fordham's two residential campuses have combined holdings of more than 1.7 million volumes and 14,000 periodicals. Students have the opportunity to utilize the $54 million William D. Walsh Family Library, one of the most technologically advanced libraries in the northeast. The Walsh Library, which serves the entire Fordham Community, has seating for more than 1,500 and a state-of-the-art Electronic Information Center, as well as media production laboratories, studios and auditoriums. Students also have access to the vast library facilities of New York City, neighboring universities and the various specialized collections maintained by numerous local museums and other institutions.

Unique/Special ProgramsTOP

Fordham offers more than 65 majors. Students in all the undergraduate colleges pursue a common core curriculum designed to provide them with the breadth of knowledge necessary for life in the 21st century. Drawn from nine disciplines, the common core curriculum includes the study of philosophy, English composition and literature, history, theology, mathematical reasoning, natural science, social sciences, the fine arts and foreign language. Business students benefit from the common core as well as additional business core courses. The University has a full-time faculty of 561 and a student to faculty ratio of 10:1. Most members of the undergraduate faculty also teach at the graduate level, and 97 percent of the full-time faculty members hold doctoral or other terminal degrees. Rounding out Fordham's commitment to developing each student's full potential are opportunities for prestigious postgraduate fellowships, New York City internships and community service programs. In fact, a recent Standard & Poor's Executive/College Survey ranks Fordham among the top eight percent of universities awarding undergraduate degrees to people who become the nation's leading executives.
